On 16 December, Ambassador Solbalkken had a meeting with the Chairman of the Ba Ria Vung Tau People’s Committee, Mr Nguyễn Văn Thọ. She was joined by Business Development Director in Vietnam, Equinor Group, Ms. Anita Holgersen; and representative from the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) and Petroleum Technical Services Corporation (PTSC).

On this occasion, Equinor and its local partners PVN and PTSC had a presentation on their joint investment proposal for an offshore wind project about 50km from the coast of Binh Chau, Xuyen Moc district, Ba Ria Vung Tau. The proposal will also be submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and relevant ministries for consideration.

Equinor is a leading company in Norway and Scandinavia in the field of renewable energy and in the development of oil and gas, wind and solar, low carbon solutions, hydrogen and carbon capture and storage projects. Since the establishment of its country office in Vietnam earlier this year, Equinor has been working hard with the Government authorities and its local partners in the development of offshore wind projects in Vietnam and, thus, contribution to the country’s energy transition efforts.

Ba Ria Vung Tau is now hosting two FDI projects by Norwegian enterprises with a total capital of about USD 470 million.
