Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam Johan Ndisi recently received a delegation from Gothenburg Port—the largest seaport in Northern Europe—on the occasion of the port’s participation in the Vietnam International Sourcing (VIS) 2025 Fair organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Thuy, Vietnam’s Trade Counsellor in Sweden, and representatives of Business Sweden in Vietnam.

During the meeting, the Gothenburg Port delegation reported to the Ambassador on the outcomes of their business mission in Vietnam, which included working sessions with major ports, logistics enterprises, and leading manufacturing and import–export groups. The delegation expressed its wish for continued support from the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam for Gothenburg Port’s cooperation activities in the country in the time ahead.

The delegation also presented an overview of Gothenburg Port—Northern Europe’s key maritime gateway and its largest container port. Handling around 70 million tons of cargo and over 20 million containers annually, Gothenburg Port plays a central role in the global trade network. It is also a pioneer in developing green and smart ports, featuring advanced infrastructure, renewable energy systems, and cutting-edge digital solutions, all aligned with the goal of reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable shipping.

Gothenburg Port voiced its desire to deepen cooperation with Vietnamese ports and logistics enterprises and to connect with major corporations such as VinFast and Vinatex to advance direct sea transport between Vietnam and Sweden. At the same time, the port aims to position itself as a new transshipment hub not only for Northern Europe but for the entire continent, helping to diversify and optimize global supply chains.

The meeting was seen as an important step toward strengthening logistics and maritime transport cooperation between Vietnam and Sweden, opening new prospects for bilateral trade, investment, and the development of sustainable supply chains.
