On the afternoon of September 4, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Dũng, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, received Mr. Saed El-Achkar, Regional President for East Asia of H&M Group (Sweden), for a meeting to explore opportunities for expanding the group’s retail network in the city.
At the meeting, Mr. Saed El-Achkar noted that H&M is one of the world’s leading fashion retail groups, currently operating more than 4,000 stores in over 75 countries and territories. Present in Viet Nam since 2017, the company now runs 14 stores and launched its online sales channel in 2023. Beyond retail, H&M also collaborates with numerous factories in Viet Nam, creating jobs for tens of thousands of workers.
The H&M executive expressed interest in understanding procedures for leasing premises and opening new stores in central Ho Chi Minh City. He also outlined plans to apply technology, promote digital transformation, and develop a modern, sustainable, and environmentally friendly retail model.
Vice Chairman Nguyễn Văn Dũng commended H&M’s presence and contributions to Viet Nam’s textile and fashion market. He shared that, following the administrative boundary expansion merging parts of Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu and Bình Dương provinces, Ho Chi Minh City now has greater space and potential for H&M to expand its investment activities.
The city leader affirmed that local authorities always create favorable conditions for international businesses, including H&M, and highly value the partnership of the Swedish business community in the city’s economic development.
