For the second consecutive year, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) worked with the Viet Nam Trade Office in Sweden, which also covers Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Latvia, to organise a business delegation to Viet Nam International Sourcing (VIS). The visit continued efforts to strengthen trade links between Latvia and Viet Nam in food, beverages and consumer goods distribution.

The Latvian participants at VIS 2026 included beverage company Cēsu Alus and The Daeg International Trade SIA, which trades and distributes Asian food and consumer goods in Latvia.

During the event, the Latvian companies took part in industry activities and held business-to-business meetings with dozens of Vietnamese manufacturers, suppliers and exporters. Discussions covered market demand, product standards, supply capacity, distribution networks and the potential for long-term partnerships.

Through these meetings, the delegation explored products with potential in Latvia and the wider Baltic region. It also shared information with Vietnamese companies about consumer preferences and requirements for entering the EU market. The discussions helped both sides identify promising products and partners for follow-up after the event.

Alongside VIS 2026, LCCI helped organise meetings with industry associations, trade promotion organisations and the European business community in Ho Chi Minh City. The delegation met with the Ho Chi Minh City Food and Foodstuff Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Food and Beverage Association, the European Chamber of Commerce in Viet Nam (EuroCham) and the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC).

These meetings gave Latvian companies a broader understanding of Viet Nam’s food and beverage market, including production capacity, distribution networks, the investment environment and business support policies. They also allowed organisations on both sides to discuss business introductions, market information sharing and support for specific opportunities.

Delegation members also conducted their own company visits and explored supply chains in Viet Nam. The Daeg International Trade SIA visited Lafooco, Milliket, AK Food and other food companies to learn directly about their products, production processes, quality standards and ability to meet European market requirements.

Based in Riga, The Daeg operates in international trade and the wholesale and retail sale of Asian food and consumer goods. It aims to expand its role as a link between Viet Nam, Latvia and the EU, and is seeking Vietnamese manufacturers, exporters and strategic partners interested in developing their European markets.

The Daeg is also interested in exploring an investment partnership to establish a food production facility in Latvia that meets EU standards. Such a facility could help Vietnamese ingredients and products enter regional supply chains more deeply, while allowing businesses to use Latvia as a gateway to the Baltic and EU markets.

By combining business meetings at VIS with discussions with associations and trade promotion organisations, as well as company visits, the Latvian delegation engaged with several parts of Viet Nam’s food and beverage sector. Contacts made at VIS are beginning to develop into sourcing activities, distribution opportunities and potential investments.

LCCI’s participation in VIS for two consecutive years reflects growing interest in Viet Nam among Latvian businesses. The programme also creates additional routes for Vietnamese goods to reach Latvia and the EU, supporting practical, long-term cooperation.
