At Viet Nam International Sourcing 2026 (VIS 2026), Swedish company Lagerqvist AB sought suppliers of food products and plastic materials in Viet Nam for the Nordic market. It also met potential partners able to import and distribute Swedish food products in Viet Nam.
VIS 2026 took place in Ho Chi Minh City from 3 to 5 September 2026. During the event, Lagerqvist joined trade promotion activities, met businesses and explored the market in search of suppliers with reliable quality, sufficient capacity and the potential for long-term cooperation.
Lagerqvist currently focuses on two main areas: food and plastic materials. VIS 2026 gave the company an opportunity to assess Vietnamese partners’ production capabilities directly and expand its network for trade between Viet Nam, Sweden and the wider Nordic region.
Meeting businesses across several sectors
Lagerqvist representatives attended the Export Forum 2026, themed “Strengthening Vietnamese Businesses’ Adaptability Amid Global Economic Volatility.” The forum provided updates on international trade, export markets and global supply chains, as well as insights into Viet Nam’s export development priorities.
At the business-to-business meetings, Lagerqvist spoke with Vietnamese companies in food, plastics and consumer goods. These included Petrolimex Import-Export Joint Stock Company, Target Agriculture Viet Nam, Dat Thanh International Industrial Manufacturing Joint Stock Company, Hust Men, Westfood Hau Giang Joint Stock Company and Hoa Phat Home Appliances.
Discussions covered product ranges, production capacity, quality standards, supply capabilities and the conditions for building long-term commercial relationships. Lagerqvist identified several potential partners for follow-up after the event.
In food, the company is interested in Vietnamese producers and exporters that can meet European requirements for quality, food safety, traceability and consistent supply. It is also seeking distributors with knowledge of the Vietnamese market to develop imports of packaged meat, frozen meat and processed foods from Sweden.
Exploring opportunities for Swedish meat in Viet Nam
Alongside VIS 2026, Lagerqvist representatives visited Thiên Bút, a company specialising in the import and distribution of meat products in Viet Nam. The two sides discussed market demand, distribution networks, requirements for imported products and potential cooperation in meat and processed meat products.
The meeting took place as opportunities for meat trade between the two countries were expanding. Since June 2026, Swedish meat companies and production facilities that meet the applicable requirements and receive approval from the competent authorities have been able to export their products to Viet Nam under the relevant regulations.
This creates an opportunity for Lagerqvist to connect Swedish suppliers with Vietnamese importers and distributors, supporting trade in both directions alongside its sourcing activities.
Seeking a reliable supply of plastic materials
In plastics, Lagerqvist is looking for Vietnamese manufacturers and suppliers of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) filler masterbatch.
The company is particularly interested in technical factors such as CaCO₃ content, the type of base polymer, dispersion and consistency between batches. It gives priority to suppliers with suitable production capacity, strong quality control and the ability to maintain a reliable long-term supply.
Lagerqvist’s search for food and plastic materials for the Nordic market, together with distribution partners for Swedish products in Viet Nam, shows how VIS 2026 can support two-way trade relationships.
After the event, the parties expect to continue discussions on technical requirements, product samples, prices and terms of cooperation. The connections established at VIS 2026 could develop into orders and contracts, expanding trade between Vietnamese businesses and their partners in Sweden and the wider Nordic region.
