Danish jewellery group Pandora opened a US$150 million crafting facility in Ho Chi Minh City on 1 October, marking its first manufacturing site outside Thailand and its fourth production facility globally. Located in Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park III, the plant is designed to produce up to 60 million pieces of jewellery annually when fully operational. Pandora estimates that the additional capacity will increase its global manufacturing capacity by about 50% and support up to 7,000 local jobs.
The investment is significant not only in scale but also in the type of manufacturing capacity being established in Việt Nam. Pandora said the site will contribute to future production of platinum-plated jewellery and will operate with specialised training through a dedicated crafting academy. This is intended to transfer production know-how and support cooperation between Pandora’s manufacturing teams in Thailand and Việt Nam. The company has positioned the new site as part of a broader strategy to diversify its manufacturing footprint and strengthen supply-chain resilience.
The facility has achieved LEED Gold certification and will operate entirely on renewable electricity. Pandora also states that all silver and gold used at the plant will be recycled, while the site incorporates measures to improve energy and water efficiency. The project therefore combines additional export-oriented manufacturing capacity with circular-material and renewable-energy requirements. For Nordic businesses, the investment is a concrete example of a major Danish company expanding production in Việt Nam while applying environmental and supply-chain standards associated with its global operations. It also creates potential demand around industrial services, training, logistics, compliant materials and local supplier development, although Vietnamese participation in the core jewellery supply chain remains at an early stage
